Katy Tagged Me!

I have been tagged by my dear "little sister" Katy over at her blog "Tales From the Little White House"!  Here goes!

First the rules:
1.) You must post these rules
2.) Each person must post eleven things about them on their blog.
3.) Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post and create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer.

11 Things About Me:
 1. My earliest memory from my childhood is trying to take a nap and it was too bright in my room. So I grabbed the little trash can in my room and put it over my head so the light wouldn't bother me. I actually fell asleep. My mom has a video tape of it too....

2. I prayed for a sister for nine years, Stephanie was finally born in '99...Justin turned 10 on the day my sister was born!

3. I had 3 pet rabbits when I was a child, a white male names "Erik" a rust colored female named "Ariel" and a black male named "Pippin". To this day I still have a major soft spot for bunnies.   :)

4. My grandparents on both sides are of Canadian French heritage.

5. My grandfather built me a huge wooden doll house when I was 11 years old, I loved that doll house so much that my mom even scheduled out an hour for "Doll house time" in her daily planner.

6. My family once celebrated Christmas on the 26th of December because we were traveling back home from Maine on the 25th. We had spent the Christmas week with my Uncle and Aunt. I had my first snowmobile ride that week.

7. I first became interested in photography when I was about 17. I had found an old camera that my mom had, it was from the 1980s but it was a professional camera. I read the entire booklet that came with the camera even though the camera itself no longer worked.

8. I once spent two weeks at a Teen camp that was also the location for a film crew. I would never recommend the film as it was of the horror genre, but it was a very special experience to be living on an actual film set. The cast and crew would often watch us campers play ultimate Frisbee and cheer us on

9. The first time I met Justin we were both 18 years old, we didn't start courting till we turned 20 years old.  I knew him for almost two years beforehand!!

10. Justin used to call me every day after we had been courting for a few months...and during night time calls he would often fall asleep mid-sentence!! He would keep talking sometimes...he once said that a hedgehog worth $5,000 had broke into his work place. lol.

11. I wore my mother's wedding veil for my own wedding. I left it and my tiara in the bridal restroom during the reception. Later on the tiara was discovered all bent, and the veil had been ripped in half.  I managed to save the tiara but the veil was damaged beyond repair. I am sad about this still, but I am glad I got the opportunity to wear it.

11 questions from Katy:
  1. Do you like salty or sweet better? I like sweet better. Although salty is good too. :)
  2. What are three words you would use to descibe yourself? Oh boy....um... creative, sarcastic, and sweet.
  3. What is the neatest things that ever happened to you in your life? Getting saved, and getting married are my top choices, but other then that the neatest thing ever was going on a cruise!!
  4. What is your favorite Bible verse? Why. I have a favorite chapter, Psalm 27. It is a very encouraging book!!
  5. Would you rather read a good book or watch a movie to relax? Tough choice. Probably watch a movie, because I can cuddle with my husband!
  6. What is your favorite color? Purple and Green.
  7. Who is the person who inspires you the most? My husband. He is so calm and down-to-earth!
  8. What is one thing about you that people don't usually know? I tend to be shy sometimes, and then at other times VERY outgoing. It baffles me!
  9. Would you rather be hot or cold? Cold, because I can snuggle under blankets.
  10. What is your favorite type of food? Anything with cheese!
  11. What is your favorite classic old movie? "The Long Long Trailer"
  12.
I am not tagging anyone as they have already been tagged and the other blogs I read are photography only or closed/private.

They have been traveling all across the US on deputation as they prepare to go on the mission field.

6 months!

This past Sunday was our 6 month mark!!

I still can hardly believe that we are finally married!
(let alone the fact that we actually made it through the wedding planning!!)

I love my man, and I am so thankful that we are together!

We spent our first Valentine's day by watching a romantic comedy, we went to Dunkin Donuts for heart shaped donuts and Justin gave me beautiful plant with pink flowers on it! :)

Good news! My Grandpa is finally home!

God bless,

Ankles...

So.... much to my chagrin my ankle has been acting up lately. (for new readers I twisted it badly this past autumn)

We have been wrapping it and putting heat on it. It hasn't hurt for a while so I am thinking that I must have done something to strain it.

At least my Ace Bandage loves me!!! lol.

Also, please pray for my grandpa as he has been in and out of ICU.
Please also pray for my father-in-law as he pulled as muscle in his back VERY badly and has been in severe pain.

Enough sad news though, good news is-
We finally have a car! We have been looking for one since we got married, and this past week the Lord finally led us to the right one! Hooray!
God bless,
~Rebecca

Our New Car!

Here it is, our new-to-us car!

We have been searching for a car since we got married and the Lord led us to this little Kia Sephia.
This means we have a car that is good on gas and....... I will be learning to drive soon.
Yes, I will admit it, I do not know how to drive.
My dad took me out for driving lessons a few times about 5 years ago, but I was scared, very scared. I was so scared in fact that I avoided anymore driving lessons.

I am still very nervous about driving. I would appreciate your prayers for me when I start learning!!!

God bless,

A Question of Discernment

I received several wonderful comments on my sister's drawing (pictured above), and thank you!

I also received a very kind and considerate question regarding the anime controversy of having bad/evil background, and is something to avoid.
Thank you to the commenter for your concern.
I would like to comment on this, as Anime is a source of controversy among Christians.

The word "Anime" is actually the Japanese word for "Animation."
It's their term for what we call "cartoons"
"Anime" also refers to the stylized way that the characters are drawn, most notably the trademark large eyes.  Anime is essentially, just a way to draw things, an art form.
It is no different from clay animation, puppetry, Computer Generated Images (CGI), watercolor, oil paintings, cubism, abstract....it is art.

Anime is also controversial for other things which aren't so great- blood, violence, sensuality and witch craft.
Yes, there are some anime cartoons
where all of these undesirable traits are present.
I might also add that are also some American cartoons
that have all these traits as well.
("The Black Cauldron" for example- 1985 Disney cartoon,
a strong focus on demons and witchcraft)
MANY American cartoons and movies contain the traits I mentioned.

My point is, just because a bad movie is made with CGI we don't call CGI evil. We call the movie bad. Not the medium with which it was made.
I am getting a bit off topic, as I am not defending Anime cartoons. I'm defending the art form.

***************************************************************

So......... is Anime evil?
I have seen the countless forums where people argue back and forth about Anime, and frankly I am not interested in joining that fire-fight. I'm not debating who is wrong or who is right.
There are some Anime cartoons and movies that I would say, yes... they have an evil content to the story. The story plot is evil, and there are times that the drawings themselves are inappropriate.
There are also some Anime cartoons where the story is cute and sweet with no objectionable and no inappropriate content.

I'm no expert on Anime as I have not watched alot of it, but I wouldn't personally call Anime evil.
I do understand why some would say it is. If the only American cartoons I ever saw were only "The Black Cauldron" or anything similar, I would too question what this cartoon industry's basis is.

If you feel that the whole realm of "Anime" is not for you and your family, there is no need to worry about it.
We have liberty in Christ, and with that liberty comes a responsibility.
We must look at things from a Biblical perspective and discernment.
Are there books, movies, websites, fads, social-networking, games, friends, ideas that you are just not sure about?
Pray about them.
If something is taking the place of Christ, or is going against what God teaches in His Word do consider its removal, for you and for your family.

My Amazing Little Sis

This is a drawing my sister did recently, Stephanie is 13 years old and does stunning work!
I must confess I am jealous of her talent!
She sent me a video showing a few drawings and I was able to screenshot this one.
She has a special knack for drawing manga and Anime characters.

So....just wanted to brag on my little sis! :)

God bless,
