My September

I'm starting to feel a little bit better from the stomach flu, still dealing with ears being blocked and cold symptoms. Thank you for all your prayers! Below are a few photos from the month of September so far.

For Labor Day weekend we joined my family for a game night.

Apples to Apples is such a great game!

We had a "Super Hero" themed teen night.

I'm not familiar with "French Fry Guy" or "Hot Dog Man" but it was pretty hilarious when those two boys showed up.

The winner for the costume contest! "Cat Scratch!"

One night we had my friend from college, Emily, with her husband over and my brother and his wife over.

It was so awesome to catch up with Emily and get to know her husband. She was one of my "partners in crime" during my college years.

I got to take a special photo with Shadow!

He may be losing his hearing but he is still quite a happy pooch!

We also celebrated Momma Mary's life and said our final goodbyes a couple weeks ago. It was a very nice albeit sad service. Thankyou for everyone's prayers for my husband's family. We appreciate it!

Love, Rebecca

Stomach Flu and a Double Ear Infection

Hey everybody! I have caught the stomach flu and it's been one long and miserable week. I've been living on jello and saltines since Tuesday. I have completely lost my voice and I have a double ear infection. Both of my ears are clogged so I can barely hear. I did go to see my doctor and am hoping that by next week I will be back to normal.

I'm feeling beyond awful and I can't wait to feel better. I'm praying that Justin doesn't catch this. Prayers are appreciated as I'm not sleeping well and my anxiety is very bad.

Love, Rebecca

So Many Birthdays!

When you grow up in a large family it is a guarantee that there will be MANY birthdays to celebrate! August and early September is jam packed around here!

We all took the long drove down to the coast for seafood at a Lenny and Joe's Fish Tale for my mom's birthday.

Then we had cheesecake and presents back at home!

Some of the gifts mom recieved.
(the sippy cups are for her "gonna-be-a-grandma" supplies!)

Katy gave mom a few little things, my favorite was the eraser that said "love"

Collin and Sarah gave mom lighthouse and beach themed items and a framed photo of mom with our late Aunt Pam. Aunt Pam loved all things ocean and lighthouse!

Big News! I'm Learning How to Drive!!

You read that title right everybody, I have finally faced my fears and am starting to learn how to drive!
This is a pretty big deal for me as I have been scared to death of driving for about 10 years now.

For those who haven't heard the harrowing tale of my driving experience let me share it now: back when I was about 17 or 18 my dad decided he was going to start teaching me how to drive. I was very nervous the whole time and after two lessons my dad had me drive on a back road. Along the way there was miscommunication about how and when to use the blinker and I ended up off the side of the road  in a little grassy ditch. This had happened in a moment of panic. I remember coming home in tears and my poor mom was so confused when I declared, "I don't want to learn how to drive ever again!"

As the years passed friends and family of mine have gotten into car accidents and it just further increased my fears. I have a heavy respect that driving a car is dangerous and you CAN end somebody's life (or your own) if you aren't careful.

Recently I have been trying to make some positive changes in my life like losing weight, improving my photography etc. Losing weight has been very hard for me and I often feel discouraged; that's when it dawned on me that learning how to drive might be a possibility since if I was successful that would encourage me a lot.

I have had a couple lessons so far with Justin and I feel a lot more confident this time behind the wheel. I'm still nervous but also happy that I'm actually moving forward with something in my life! We are going to take it very slow so I don't get overwhelmed and give up.

I would appreciate your prayers as I keep learning.

Love, Rebecca

Momma Mary

I am very sad to say that my husband's grandma, fondly nicknamed "Momma Mary" passed away this past Monday. She had been sick for a while now and we were prepared for her passing. She was 87 and had made a profession of faith.

I wish I could have gotten to know Momma Mary better in the 7 years I've known Justin, but she had developed dementia in the past few years. From the stories I've been told by my husband and his family Momma Mary was a wonderful lady and one tough cookie!

She will be greatly missed, please keep my husband's family in prayer, especially my father-in-law as Mary was his mother.

Thankyou, love Rebecca
