Before The Veil Update!

As most of you know, I write a blog on dating, weddings and marriage called "Before The Veil",
This blog updates every Monday. I write these posts based on my own experiences, and listening to others. I often spend weeks preparing and rewriting posts, and have spent several sleepless notes typing up new post ideas or simply editing my drafts.

Here are some highlights from recent posts:

Listen to the personal account of a couple that truly understood "Till Death Do Us Part,"

I spent 7 months of fruitless searching for a modest wedding during my year long engagement, I will share some things I know now that would have saved me time and frustration!

A young lady recently asked us if it was indeed possible to know if you have found the right man. This post was in response to her question.

Rachel shares her story of  how she found love, regardless of a serious and sudden downfall of her health during college.

If you ever have ideas for a post on singleness, love and marriage, some wedding planning tips for brides, advice for a new wife or would like to write a guest post email me at jubsjuream2011@gmail.com!

God bless,

Percy Update: Litter Box Training

Our rabbit has successfully been litter box trained. He uses a litter box both inside and outside of his cage. After helping potty-train 5 of my younger siblings I have come to a conclusion- Potty training my bunny was FAR EASIER than child potty-training! (that or I am just really good at potty training...lol)

I am very pleased with the fact that we were actually successful in training Percy to use his litter box. I am noticing a huge difference with having an indoor rabbit as compared to the outdoor one I had years ago.

Having Percy around has made a positive impact on my struggle with panic disorder. Because I don't want to rely on medication to avoid a panic attack, many times I will just spend a few moments chilling with Percy, having something to focus on can usually calm away the rising panic.

Plus, who wouldn't love something soft and cuddly pestering you for a head rub??

God bless,

Thoughts on Days Long Gone...

This lady photographed in the 1960s is my great Grandmother.
She passed away several years ago at the age of 96.
Because she lived in Canada, and because she did not speak english- I never got a chance to know her while she was alive.

My mother found this photograph last year and made a digital copy. I was able to save the photo to my computer too.

Looking at this photo...I have so many questions! I know very little about my ancestors...and for a history buff like me- that is very depressing. I wish I knew more about my family's history. Not just 100 years back, but as far as possible! Knowing that will probably never happen makes me very sad. I'd love to know if they did anything special, met anyone famous, saw a famous event, maybe even a fascinating love story or two... I certainly wish I could know their stories.

God bless,

Percy at 15 Weeks!

So my little baby bunny has grown quite a bit in such a short time!!
He is far more active now and bossy. I do miss my little cuddly ball of fur, however he is still quite enjoyable to play with. I get my exercise chasing this ball of furry energy!

Percy was not in the mood to get a photo with me...

He looks so grumpy....

Percy has this blondish patch on his neck now...

Percy loves to run all over the living room chew on his toys and flop down for back rubs

He has started developing an attitude too... the "don't touch my stuff mom" attitude

however he goes ga-ga for head scratches.

I am enjoying my bossy little bunny. <3

I have a youtube channel of videos of Percy playing and other crazy stuff. I post new videos every once in a while.

Enjoy!

Betta Appreciation Post

One of my current projects I have been working on is trying to improve the photos of the bettas. I would like to take more "artistic photos" of my bettas- but I am still....missing something. Anyways, these were from my latest attempt. I included some detail shots so you can see their beautiful scales up close

So, this is where Ty-Lee spends most of his time. To coax him out into the open more I usually drop a few food pellets in.

Here Ty-Lee is swimming upwards for the food.

Look at the shine and reflections on his scales! I just love it!!

Okay, notice how the ends of his tail fins kind of fan out a bit? Well, we had an issue with a previous plastic plant that was tearing all the edges of his fins! Once we discovered this we switched out the plastic plant for a much softer fabric one. And the "fan" look to his tail is actually fin regrowth!

I adore up close photos. The bettas are so small, it's awesome to see what they look like in more detail.

This is my fat little boy Deedo.

I love his array of colors

So, within the next few weeks I am going to try to photograph them again and see if I can get my little guys to flare their fins. It is incredibly pretty when they flare!

I Want Your Thoughts!

Calling all single girls!
I have a question for you! Do you watch married couples interact? What are some positive things, and negative things you have seen that you have learned from them? Should married couples pay attention to the fact that singles are watching their behavior and making mental notes?

Want to contribute to this upcoming post on my Before the Veil blog??
You can leave a comment here or email me at jubsjuream2011@gmail.com

Thanks!

ConnectiCon 2013

Warning!
This post is VERY Nerdy!!  :)

We weren't sure if we were going to make it this year, but everything worked out and we went to the ConnectiCon last week!! I went for the first time last year, although Justin has been to this event many times.
Because we didn't know if we were going until the week of the event we didn't have time to put together cosplays so we just went in our favorite nerdy shirts!

The ConnectiCon is one of MANY conventions that happen every year all over the world. The most famous one is ComiCon. These Conventions attract A LOT of attendees, and there is an endless stream of fascinating things to see and do!

Hey look, it's me with a  Dr. Who cosplayer!! :)
What is a "Cosplayer" you ask? A Cosplayer is a person who dresses up as a character from either a book, a video game, a movie, a tv series or a comic strip. Some people create very well-done costumes with amazing detail!

The next several photos are portraits I did of different Cosplayers, afterwards just more photos from the Con. Enjoy!!

You all might not recognize some of these upcoming characters, but I am pretty sure most, if not all of you would recognize Yukon Cornelius from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer!

Ariel from The Little Mermaid

Link from The Legend of Zelda

Pikachu from Pokemon

Fiona from Adventure Time

Princess Jasmine from Aladdin

Belle from Beauty and the Beast

Princess Merida from Brave

Aang as an adult from Avatar: The Last Airbender

Rarity from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean

The 10th Doctor from Doctor Who

Now, on to more photos of the ConnectiCon!

Another Assassin's creed cosplay

One of the Dwarf characters from the Hobbit

These stairs were so full later in the day of people just resting. I would guesstimate maybe 3,000 people were there on the day we went. Last year over the three day weekend around 10,000 people attended!!! That's insane! My photos hardly convey just how many people were there!

Batman, I had seen him riding down the escalator and it was pretty funny.

Enderman from Minecraft

The "Artist's Colony" here you could buy art prints, original sketches, comic books, buttons, stickers, bookmarks, t-shirts and TONS of other merchandise.

Female Jack Frosts from Rise of the Guardians

Toph from Avatar: The Last Airbender

R2D2 from Star Wars

Another Link cosplay, not sure who the girl in the blue wig is. I think she *might* be a humanized Navi

The Sword booth, oh my word- they were GORGEOUS

The wooden swords were well crafted and so very cool!

I also found a Tardis!!

Princess Luna from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

Gaming Room, at every table people were playing various board games or card games. Justin learned how to play "Go" a popular and very old game that originated in China over 2,500 years ago- and is still played to this day! That's impressive!!

Everywhere you looked there were hundreds of people!

Humanized-Tardis!

We went out onto the courtyard and saw a crowd gathered and heard music so we went to check it out

These four were playing popular video game songs and were quite entertaining!

You can see the Connecticut Science Center in the background!

Back inside we found another Humanized Tardis

Very cool metal masks

Pretty Kimono-style dress. In the Dealer's Room there were many booths were you could buy clothing, costumes, hats, masks, belts, purses, wallets, dresses, wigs and fairy wings

Gaming Room and Cafe- Look at ALL THOSE PEOPLE!

Elves from the Lord of the Rings Cosplay (Left, Right)

Female Robin

There were quite a few foam sword duels throughout the day- it was fun to watch

These two were really getting into it!

And thus ends our ConnectiCon experience for 2013.
We wanted to stay longer but I ran out of energy! However I was glad we went, and for the fun we had!

So, how many of you have ever heard of Cons, or even Cosplaying before??
It is a pretty exciting thing!

God bless,
~Rebecca
