Meet Nova!

So I just realized that I never told you all about our new betta!! We got him right before Christmas time and with all the holiday excitement I just completely forgot! With that being said- say hello to Nova! Nova is a male halfmoon betta splendens. The photos do not do his brilliant colors justice at all. He has purple, violet, blue, pink, red and a splash of orange. The above photo is with flash, the below photos are without flash.

In this photo Nova is flaring his fins - look at those colors! He is like a firework!

Nova has been very active and has a very sweet personality. He is not full size yet believe it or not!

Isn't he just gorgeous!?

In other betta news, our beautiful Ty-lee swam off to fishy heaven last week. I am so thankful he lived as long as he did considering his spine was bent when we got him. He was a beautiful little fish and I will miss him.

Deedo however is still going strong! 2 years old and still very active. I hope he will make it to his 3rd year very much so! I will have a hard time when he passes away because he is our first pet and he is very special because of that!

What was your first pet?

Favorite Musician of the Week- Jun Sung Ahn

Instead of doing a favorite photos of the week I decided to do a favorite musician of the week.
I follow a lot of independent musicians on YouTube and I am blown away by the talent these people have!

For this week I chose violinist Jun Sung Ahn. I have always loved the Violin- it's one of my all time favorite instruments! Jun Sung Ahn is 21 years old and is from Seoul, Korea. Below are a few of my favorite covers he has done.

What's your favorite instrument??

Justice for Vader- Update

image

More information has come out about the situation regarding the domesticated pet fox that was suddenly taken from his owners and euthanized the next day. The excerpt below is from Animal Rescue Network

On February 20th, 2014, a domesticated fox named Vader was taken from his home after an anonymous person reported being bitten by him. Without investigating the claim, officers seized Vader without a warrant. The officer who grabbed him was not trained to handle animals and despite numerous warnings from both Vader’s owners and the animal control officer he was with, grabbed him by the neck and was bitten. The officer was wearing protective gloves and claims he was bitten through them, but there remains to be any proof that this was true.
On February 21st, 2014, Vader was euthanized in order to test his brain for rabies, even though proof of vaccination was given to the police department by his owners. Vader lived in a house with other vaccinated pets, hadn’t left the property since he was four months old, was never left outside unattended, and had never been bitten by any animal (let alone a rabid one). There was no chance that Vader had rabies. There is even still speculation as to whether he actually bit through the gloves the officer was wearing and broke the skin.
Vader’s owners were not notified that he was being euthanized. Tara was in contact with the North Dakota Board of Animal Health, Department of Health and the local police department. All three assured her that since they had no evidence that Vader had bitten anyone, he would only be held for a few days to make sure he didn’t show any signs for contagious diseases. A few hours later, police officers showed up to her house with his collar. They claim they have no information on the person who filed the anonymous report. [source]
It is illegal to enter someone’s property and seize an animal without a warrant. It is illegal to deny Tara her rights to face her accuser. The police department released a statement on the events that took place claiming that Vader was being kept illegally. This is not true. Vader was allowed into the state and came with a certification of health. Foxes are not illegal in her city, only in a specific zone that she lives on the very edge of. The mayor of her city gave her special permission to keep him as long as he stayed on their property at all times, which they complied with. Vader was also a ranch fox, which are “classified as a category 1 non-traditional livestock by North Dakota and are considered ‘generally domestic’ - the same as common pet ferrets and chinchillas.” [source]

I know most of my readers are probably not very interested in this story, but as someone who has experienced the devastation of a natural pet death, I cannot even begin to imagine what the owners are going through knowing that Vader was taken from them because some anonymous person "claimed" WITHOUT PROOF that Vader bit them.

I saw photos of Vader every single day for the past 6 months. I am a huge animal lover and pet person, knowing this little guy is gone is really hard on not only me but the thousands of readers of May The Fox Be With You , and especially his owners.

Thankyou to my lovely readers for tolerating my posts on this. I probably sounds crazy, and "why is she obsessing over this??" Well the simple answer is I grew up with A LOT of pets, I never had a "horse phase" as a kid -I had a wolf and fox obsession. Thankyou again for being patient with me :)

Justice for Vader

So I have been following this blog called "May the Fox Be With You" for a while now. It's about a young couple who owned a domesticated pet fox. They posted photos and vidoes of his adventures and what it was like owning an exotic animal. I really enjoyed reading about the experiences they had and their honesty about how rewarding and difficult exotic pet ownership can be.

Very recently this couple's pet fox was taken from them and euthanized after an anonymous person claimed that Vader bit them. There was no evidence or proof presented. It's heartbreaking that this cute little guy is gone forever. I really loved reading about him.

I cannot fathom the pain this couple is going through after losing their precious Vader after all the time, work and care they put into his precious little life.

There is a petition going on for justice for this couple in the loss of their pet. My husband and I both signed and if you are interested you can sign to here at

Valentine's Day

Hello Readers!

I hope everyone had a nice Valentine's Day? We kinda had a blizzard!
It has been snowing and snowing and snowing and it's starting to get old.

Justin and I pretty much just played games together and he made us a very nice dinner that evening! We ate in our jammies and it was still very romantic! Justin gave me flowers, a teddy bear and balsamic vinegar! Now you may say...."Um...why did he give you vinegar??"

I had mentioned a while ago that I wanted some balsamic vinegar for the next time we had a bread, pasta and salad dinner. I had been to a restaurant years ago that had warm bread and balsamic vinegar to dip your bread into and I was HOOKED. It has been a very long time since I have been back to that restaurant and my parents never had balsamic vinegar at home. It truly is the little things that mean the most and he was VERY sweet to remember!!!

Love,
Rebecca

My family gave him a game called Blokus, it is pretty interesting!

So after the birthday party Justin and I pulled out this giant chocolate tree. Justin got it for Christmas and we wanted to share it! The only problem was how on earth do you cut it???

Caleb thought we should just chomp down! Luckily the tree was hollow so I was able to cut it...sort of lol
